So far this season, Chris Smalling has made a significant impact for Roma during his ten matches in Serie A after joining them on loan. Manchester United's manager Ole Solksjaer is however confident the defender will return next summer as he confirmed in a recent press conference:"He'll return, sometimes we know there's a risk when a player changes environment, but Chris is the type of guy who likes challenges. He's smart and adapted well to Italy, I'm happy he's showing the type of player he is"
But despite Solksjaer's words, Roma are working on acquiring him on a permanent basis, and Smalling has expressed his desire to stay, in part because he enjoys living in Italy's capital. Roma doesn't want to waste time and are working to sign him on a permanent basis with Manchester United who are asking for €20 million. In the last few days Roma have raised their offer and the negotiation is on going"
