Ben Chilwell is set to have surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament after he sustained a knee injury against Juventus last month.
The 25-year-old will have an operation tomorrow at Cromwell hospital and will miss the remainder of the season.
This has now forced Chelsea to find a solution ahead of the January transfer window, with Marcos Alonso currently the only recognised left-sided full-back and are already eyeing up targets.
The Blues are looking at a loan move for Lucas Digne, who has fallen out of favour at Everton.
