The eighth matchday of Serie A has kicked off with Napoli losing to Roma at home. Losing 3 to 1 in their second consecutive defeat was not an easy pill to swallow for Maurizio Sarri, who talked to Sky Sport in the postgame press conference: In the first half, we were able to put a tough opponent in difficulty. Then we went down 1-0, and losing against Roma made the game more difficult for us, because they are phenomenal on the counter attack. In the second half, we tried to remedy the situation a little too individualistically.
The positive aspect is that the squad never gave me the sense that they were tired, especially in the first 40 minutes which was beautiful to watch. Unfortunately, some moments didn't go our way, but it was a great game that could have finished with a different result. It's a difficult moment to experience two losses in a row, but we must remain calm.
The substitution of Gabbiadini? I did it to break a period of inactivity in the match. I did it to attack a physically strong defense by giving them fewer points of reference. It was purely a tactical decision and I don't think it will affect other things.
Milik? We're now a team that doesn't have a player with his characteristics. It could happen, but unfortunately it occurred far away from the transfer window. It's fine, we have to find other solutions. The transfer market? It's the sporting director's job to find something and the club's decision to see if the time is right for a move. I don't have any information, so I think that they haven't found the right profile just yet." @GIANMARCalciO
