Juventus’ defeat to Genoa in the last round of Serie A produced a lot of noise. It was the third loss which followed a Champions League match, and has fueled skepticism regarding the team’s quality of play. Sami Khedira recently spoke to Sky Sport about the current situation confronting Juventus: “It is the third defeat following Champions League soccer? To be honest, it is the first time I have heard this. I cannot give an explanation for why this is the case, but it could be due to our concentration levels. The matches against Genoa and Milan which both arrived after European competition were difficult games. They were, however, two different types of losses. When we played Milan, we were the better side; we even had the opportunity to win. Against Genoa everything was different. These are things that can happen in the course of a season, and sometimes bad defeats can serve to remind us that you can never let your concentration drop.”

“Our style of play? I would be the first to say that we must improve. This is certain due to the level of quality which we have on this team, but it is also important to consider that we do win games. We do want to play at our best for the media, fans, and coach. Dybala? He has been absent in the past few weeks; he is an extremely important player for us. On the field he always manages to gift us special moments with his left foot, free kicks, and corners. Yes, he is a very special player.” In conclusion, Khedira spoke about Juve’s upcoming match against Atalanta: “Gasperini has a very strong squad, and I believe that they can dream of becoming the new Leicester. However, we are Juventus, and we have our own dreams. On Saturday we must only think to beat them, and this is our objective.”
