Juventus, de Ligt: "I've gained confidence, I was too focused on my mistakes"

Juventus' Mathiis de Ligt has been put in a prominent role for the club in his first season. He has been a regular starter and discussed his journey so far, speaking to the Dutch press at the national team's retreat:"The club's plan was to bring me in gradually to the starting lineup. But the plans changed after Chiellini's injury. It's a big thing for me, it's a challenge. The most important lesson that I've learned at Juventus is you always have to believe in yourself. At the start I realized I was too concerned with not making errors and that's what you must not do. I have never played that way and in my first few weeks I was too concentrated on that. After Atletico Madrid, I felt that I had regained my confidence. I knew I was getting better, even if there were bad things that would happen."
