Juventus, Barzagli: “Pogba and Vidal? They made their choice. Perhaps they didn’t expect a Champions League semifinal”
At 36 years old, Andrea Barzagli knows that Juventus is currently going through an unmatchable season. Winning the Champions League trophy could be a worthy end to a career showcasing almost every success in the book. In an interview with Tuttosport, the Italian defender shared his view on several topics:
“When you get to 36 years of age, you begin considering a lot of things, and you begin to accept taking any role for the team. I try to make myself available. I know what I can give defensively, and I know what I can give offensively: I just try and keep things simple. Juventus has a lot of offensive prowess, we can afford playing me as a defensive right back”.
Some people may regret having left Juve: “Vidal and Pogba? They made their choice. Nobody can expect their ex-team to reach a Champions League semi final the year after they leave. I spoke to Pogba via video chat right before the game against Genoa. It’s obvious that he’s happy, but it’s also normal for him to want to be in our position as well. He definitely roots for us though, just like anyone who’s been with us these past years. Our strength has always been our cohesive group”.
