This is the final Europa League encounter for Inter who will conclude their failed attempt at qualification at the San Siro. The game against Sparta Prague will not serve to help Inter in the standings as they have been mathematically eliminated, but it will be an important test in view of Inter’s match against Genoa on Sunday.
Interviewed by Sky Sport, Pioli analyzed the difficult situation Inter find themselves in: “We want to bounce back after Friday’s performance and win the game. We had not ever approached a game in a wrong manner, but it happened against Napoli; I did not like it. In order to become competitive, certain situations must absolutely change. There is regret for our early elimination given that we performed a great first half in Israel. However, we have not been able to honor this competition, but hope to close with a victory.
Simeone? I believe that the reality is that I coach Inter, and that Simeone coaches Atletico. Both of us must remain focused on the work that we do. I have support from the club, and there exists the desire to bring Inter where it deserves to be. Simeone expressed a desire, but mine is to remain here as long as possible; there exists the possibility to do really well. I have found a team which is in search of balance. We have had a complicated schedule, but want to return to victory as soon as possible starting with tomorrow’s game.
Gabigol? He is someone who is working well and is still learning about Italian football. I have ample possibilities to choose from, and I am choosing those who in this moment provide me with the most reliability. Felipe Anderson had the same problems his first year, but then he grew as a player and became who he now is. Gabigol is following the same trajectory, and we await him.”
