Dzeko is currently Serie A’s top scorer with eight goals, the same amount he had last year in an entire season. The Bosnian striker doesn’t hide his satisfaction in the interview with ‘RomaRadio’:
‘Last year I scored 8 goals in 31 games, this year I have the same amount but in 9 matches, it’s incredible. I feel good and I can finally say that this is the real Dzeko. I don’t want to stop now though, I want to keep going. Struggles? In Italy there are always 2-3 defenders constantly marking you. Last year I didn’t know how Serie A defences played, but one things for sure: In Italy I get hit far more than I did in England’.
The fans now love him: ‘Our relationship is great and I feel like I’m at home. We’ll have to see how things stand when I fail to score two games in a row. Even though last season was difficult it’s in the past now. Currently we’re second, the team is strong and we’re doing well. I like to think about our game versus Napoli: Everyone took it for granted that we’d lose, but instead we played maybe the best game since I’ve been here. For me personally, my best performance was against Inter. Scoring? For me it’s everything, when I score I get incredible feelings. Scoring is my life’.
He concludes by commenting on Salah and Spalletti’s strength: ‘Mohamed is a great guy and a fantastic player, extremely important for us. He’s already scored 5 goals in 9 matches and isn’t even a penalty box striker. I have a great feeling with him on the pitch. Spalletti? Physically he’s strong, but I’m no joke either…’
