Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo in a deal worth £115 million.
The Blues are understood to be paying an initial £100 million, plus £15 million in potential bonuses, in which the Ecuadorian will sign an eight-year contract, with the option for a further year. The deal also includes a sell-on clause.
Caicedo's former side, Independiente del Valle will also receive 20% of the fee as part of the agreement that was in place when the 21-year-old made his move to Brighton in 2021.
Brighton gave the approval of the documents exchanged between the clubs after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Sunday, in order to respect the Reds, who initially struck an agreement with Brighton for a reported fee worth £111 million.
However, it’s understood Chelsea and sources close to the midfielder, believed Liverpool‘s offer was worth £115 million, hence Chelsea matching that valuation.
Caicedo played a key role in the deal, who refused to join Liverpool, since his priority was to join Chelsea.
