A major project with the imperative to win. From Lega Pro to as high as they can possibly go: the dream of Venezia. With Filippo Inzaghi in charge, he can turn that dream into a reality. Joe Tacopina is reaching for the stars, and he talked about the potential of his team to Sky Sport: "The beginning of the season was more or less how we expected it to go. We knew that we were in a league with very strong teams, but if we play like we know how to, we can go much further, and eventually reach the top of the table."
The first real misstep came in the form of a defeat against Pordenone: "I'm not angry: the season is long, now is not the time to worry. We played well and missed some easy chances, but it's not the end of the world. It's impossible to think we will win every match, but if we continue to play our game, we will reach the top. I don't have dreams, I have goals I want to achieve. And they are simple: I want to be at the summit of Italian football, which is one of the best in the world. I want to have a great team, and Venezia can be on top. With a great team, we can get there, not to mention that we represent one of the most well-known cities in the world. With a city like Venice, you can impose a sports model on it: we attract people from all over the world to our games."
Finally, he spoke about the new stadium project and Venezia's coach, Filippo Inzaghi: "The stadium project is strategic and has lots of potential, much like our team. Inzaghi? I support him. He's working very hard every day. He's very intense. For me, it was an easy choice: he's a winner with the right mentality that will take us into the bigger categories of Italian football."
