Torino, Sirigu: "The team has found balance. Donnarumma is incredible"

Humble, reserved and frank. Salvatore Sirigu is far from today's modern footballer stereotypes: he doesn't like social media, spends his free time with additional training sessions and claims to be proud of being Italian as he told Il Corriere della Sera in an interview.

"Everyone who wants it has the rights to use social media. I don't think that's the right way to get to know people. I belong to another generation, the one of text messages. I've had a twitter profile since 2010, but I don't handle it personally and I've never posted anything myself. I know so many colleagues who like to be a bit more in the shadow".

"Free time is a relative concept and work doesn't end after the daily training session. Look at Buffon, his career isn't only based on great technical and mental qualities. I've never seen him gain weight for example. Details aren't only about training sessions. We talk to each other, we've become friends. I'm proud someone like him represents Italian football abroad. I've listened to some of his interviews in French, he's getting good".

About PSG: "It's been a nice experience. A tiring one, too. Living in Paris has helped me get to understand France, the difference between someone from Bretagne and someone born in the South for example. I'm proud to be Italian. And I'm from Sardegna, I belong to these land and this culture. Not long ago I read "Un anno sull'altipiano" of Emilio Lussu. Without Brigata Sassari's sacrifice, boys who maybe never went anywhere out of Sardegna, WW1 might have ended in another way. And it might have become our country today".

From Buffon to Donnarumma, who he'll face tomorrow in an important game in the Europe race, Milan-Torino: "It's incredible how much space he's occupying and how explosive he is: he's strong and has a lot of qualities. He can improve so much. The same goes for Perin, but also for me. Mattia has great technical and character qualities. He's been extraordinary in the way he's faced the injuries and started over".

About Torino and Mazzarri: "We can and have to improve. We're finding some balance that we've been missing though. Mazzarri? I didn't know he was sick, we were worried. We've bounded with him. He knows how to be tough, but it's fine by me. I tell the younger ones: "this coach's lessons will be useful for all your career". You only grow with sincerity".
