As Italy is set to return to Palermo for an International fixture, Totò Schillaci spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport about Belotti and more:
“Playing in Palermo is a guarantee for Italy, that’s why they come here often to play. I played for Italy here in 1990, and I felt goose bumps the entire match. Ventura’s Italy? I think giving the youth a chance is the right choice. This didn’t happen during my era. Ventura is an intelligent coach, he knows how to open doors for the youth who possess talent. Belotti? A great striker that has been able to confirm the skills he showed when playing here. Unfortunately Palermo never really gave him enough space: I’m not sure whether it was Iachini or Zamparini who didn’t believe in him. Had the president believed in him, today Palermo would have a treasure in their hands”.
