Roma, Spalletti: "The fans started accepting Dzeko after ..."

Luciano Spalletti appeared satisfied after Roma snatched a 4-1 victory at home against Viktoria Plzen. The “giallorossi’ have now guaranteed themselves to advance into the next round of the Europa League as first in their group with one match to spare. The Italian coach spoke to Sky Sport after the match:

“Had they scored that goal when Alisson pulled off the save to make it 2-2, things could have been ugly. Matches have to be earned, especially in Europe. Salah? He doesn’t trust his right foot. These things often happen to left footed players who only trust one foot. Fazio and Rudiger played an amazing game. Dzeko? Being consistently in the starting lineup has helped him. He always speaks his mind, he’s very specific with telling you how it is. There were a few key crossroads when dealing with him: When I substituted him because he was getting criticism from fans and I put Totti on instead: A true head to head. Then I put them in together against Sampdoria, where they both turned the game around for us. When the fans saw that Totti and Dzeko worked together, they became more accepting. After a series of these events he began to show his true colours. Still, he needs to improve on his anger in front of goal”.
