Roma ends 2016 with three points by scoring three goals against Chievo at home, allowing them to remain second, four points behind Juventus who has a game to spare. Luciano Spalletti spoke to Roma Radio about the past calendar year he spent with Roma:
“I trust the lads, each and every one of them is important for me. I have to congratulate them on following my lead and their work ethic. To close out the gap with Juventus we need our best players to add aggressiveness to their already skilful game style. Dzeko for example could already have two or three extra goals with that added bit of grit. Sometimes he gets unlucky, other times he doesn’t look hard enough for opportunities by failing to find a game changing moment. The most crucial points this season? The ones we lost against Empoli and Cagliari. Losing to Juventus is something you can forgive, but other games aren’t. Against smaller teams you need personality, something we failed to show”.
