Roma has decided on a new general manager to take over the vacated role left after Petrachi's departure: Tiago Pinto, who will join the giallorossi from Benfica, has accepted the job. "AS Roma is happy to annouce that an agreement has been reached with Tiago Pinto to become the new General Manager. Tiago Pinto will become part of AS Roma as General Manager, Football, begining 1 January 2021, reporting to Dan and Ryan Friedkin and supervising all the sporting elements of the club."
Commenting on the hire, Roma's president Dan Friedkin said this: "Tiago is a world-class talent. In our numerous conversations it was clear his passion for his work, his forethought, and his orientation to success all align with the new mindset of Roma. We are sure that his vast energy, his solid principles, and his capacity to find, develop and optimize talented players will uphold our ambition to make Roma competitive for the biggest trophies in Italy and Europe."
Tiago Pinto also spoke on his new role: "I am happy and honored to join with Roma in such an enthusiastic moment for the development of the club. Leaving Benfica was a very tough choice, but joining Roma as it rebuilds under a dynamic new owner is a professional opportunity that I could not turn down.
