Roma took an important step today towards finding their next manager. The giallorossi directors met in Madrid with Paulo Fonseca, current manager of Shakhtar Donetsk. It was a positive face to face meeting, which resulted in an agreement for a three year contract.
Now the deal depends on the agents of the manager as they need to have him freed from his contract with the Ukrainian club without having to pay the release clause set at five million.
Roma are also keep contacting with Roberto De Zerbi alive, who is another name for their bench. The Sassuolo manager will meet in the coming hours with the neroverde directors (Squinzi and Carnevali) to evaluate prospectives and projects. The intention is to respect the contract he has with the club if they have the ambitions to keep building a strong Sassuolo.
At the moment, the road that leads Fonseca to Roma seems like the more likelier path.
