Roma find themselves in third place in Serie A as well as in the Champions League quarterfinals during the March international break, Monchi’s first season at the club must be considered a success so far. The Spanish sporting director spoke to Mundo Deportivo about his experience in Italy’s capital:”We must be proud with what we’ve done so far in the Champions League, not only did we get to the quarterfinals we also won a group in front of Chelsea and Atletico Madrid. It was a difficult year because we had a coaching change and also at sporting director position, Francesco Totti retired and some important players left last summer”
Monchi also discussed his new manager and outstanding goal keeper:”Di Francesco will prepare the matches against Barcelona in the best way possible. For some things he reminds me of Emery and Marcelinho, but he has his personality. Alisson has improved a lot and he hasn’t given up a goal in Europe at home, and he has seventeen clean sheets in Italy. His confidence is transmitted to his teammates”
