Tonight Roma sporting director Monchi was a guest on Sky Sport’s “Calciomercato l’Originale” to discuss numerous topics, including the negotiation with Chelsea for Dzeko:”We started talking to them about Emerson and they asked us about Edin. Once they made their offer, we listened and made our request. They talked to the player, they didn’t reach an agreement with him. Why sell Dzeko? No club is happy when they sell a player but they do it because they think that financially and from the sporting aspect it’s the right deal. We would have also acquired a player just as significant. It’s not like Dzeko leaves and no one arrives, that’s for sure
Monchi was also asked about his relationship with Roma’s president James Pallotta:”How is my relationship with Pallotta? It’s very good. I speak to him every day, multiple times. We need to be more fair to him. He’s very close to the city and the club. He always asks for information, he’s concerned. In his mind he has a Roma that wins and in the end he’ll succeed”
