Champions League, Euro 2016, and almost a guarantee of winning his fourth Ballon d’Or: It has been a perfect year for Cristiano Ronaldo. As a way of looking back, the Portuguese superstar spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport:
‘There are no players out there like myself, no successor to Cristiano Ronaldo. I am unique. Ballon d’Or? It isn’t an obsession despite how important of an accolade it is. Obviously I want to win, who wouldn’t? But it isn’t up to me, so no point in thinking about it’.
A comment on Juventus: ‘I believe they have what it takes to win the Champions League. They have top notch players, a beautiful stadium: You can tell that they know what they’re doing. Just look at the past with Zidane, or even how they developed Morata. I found him improved, matured’.
To conclude he clarifies his plans for the future: ‘I don’t know what I’ll do after football because it won’t matter anytime soon. After recent events with both Nike and Real Madrid what I can say is that I plan to stay with my club even after I retire’.
