"Lopetegui was the best coach I've ever had", were Dani Carvajal's words in an interview with TVE. A story between the Spanish National Team and Real Madrid, the manager was hired at a bad time at the club, especially due to the the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. To speak about the whole story was Carvajal, who grew up as a boy (since the U19 Spanish National team) under the guidance of Julen Lopetegui.
"Lopetegui was the best coach I've ever had. Unfortunately he missed that bit of luck necessary to continue with us [at Real Madrid]. His way of seeing football, his way of managing the group, and being with the players - it's something that I share. I said it before he arrived at Real Madrid, and I will keep saying it now that he is gone and I will keep saying it until I find a better technician than him."
In short, Carvajal still identifies Lopetegui as his best coach ever, and who knows, one day, their roads will perhaps come back to cross.
