Although they are 270 minutes from the end of the season and have already wrapped up the Ligue 1 title, the season still feels like a disappoinment for PSG. The reason being that they were once again unable to serious contend for the Champions League trophy, a very important objective for the club. The Parisian club will go back to the drawing board this summer in order to attempt to win Europe's prized possession, and one of many questions for the club will be that of the starting goalkeeper.
In fact, this season PSG had two starters at the position. One being youngster Alphonse Areola, the other veteran Gianluigi Buffon. It was a rare thing that has never really been done before at the top level. Areola played in 23 matches while Buffon participated in 20. Manager Tuchel had this to say about it: "We can't continue like this, we are the first club in history to do it, it's not possible." Words that have been thought of by many, have now been confirmed by the manager himself. There will not be room for everyone next season and one of the two is destined to leave. Now it remains to be seen if it will be Areola (who has a contract until 2023) or Buffon (who is a free agent). This is the dilemma.
