After replacing Ivan Juric at Genoa, Cesare Prandelli is leading the Rossoblu to a safe place well above the relegation zone in the Serie A. The former Italy coach discussed the steps of his career in an interview with Corriere dello Sport.

"When I was at Fiorentina, I felt betrayed by the owners. After reaching a Champions League spot for four seasons in a row, the owners told me the they needed a change and I could have gone to whichever club I wanted. The next day, Della Valle told the press that I wanted to go to Juventus. The Bianconeri were interested in me, but actually they were in a hurry to sign Mihajlovic. So, out of respect for the city and the fans, I gave my last year of contract up and then called Bettega and told him that I wouldn't have signed for Juve. Regrets? Juventus and Roma, but mostly the latter. I left Roma because my wife didn't want to have his disease treated in Rome, but the media told that I had had argument with Totti. It wasn't true, everything was great at the beginning of my time there.".

The coach was also asked about his stint with the National team: "Balotelli and Cassano together on the pitch? I always liked eccentric players, in the National team they didn't have much time to cause trouble. In that Italy team there was the Juventus unit that was very selective with behaviours in the group".

Finally, Prandelli discussed Piatek and the win over Juventus with Genoa: "I thought that Piatek would have stayed until the end of the season. Anyway, it is what it is, we could keep him when Milan offer came. About Juve, I am more happy with the three points than with getting them with Juve, we really needed those points".
