A few months ago Andrea Pirlo retired at San Siro after a great career, before starting a new one where he now obverses football from the outside. The former midfielder has given an interview to Tuttosport talking about Juventus who will try to win the Scudetto for the eighth time in a row but also try to win in Europe.
"Allegri is one of the best, he's only missing the Champions League. I like his cleverness in the way he handles the locker room and switches from tactical systems. Dybala? If Paulo starts training like Cristiano Ronaldo it will be hard keeping him on the bench. When you're not in the starting lineup, you always have to give something more, even if his qualities are not discussed. It's not easy to accept not starting but in order to become a fundamental player for Juve, he has to find something more, deep inside of him".
About CR7's arrival in Italy: "Juventus is a big club, an historical one. From the beginning I understood the board had an ambitious project in mind, they had just built the new stadium to get back to winning in Italy and Europe. If you had lived it from the inside, like I did for the first 4 years, you wouldn't be surprised by the long journey and the trophies: winning gives you great feelings and you want to keep doing it. Juve has been great in their will of always wanting to improve. When I called Paratici and he told me everything was true, I complimented him. No nostalgia though: I've had the chance to share the locker room with a lot of Ballon d'Or winners during my career".
CR7 hasn't scored yet though... "The champions don't need help, they'll remain calm and only think about working. Ronaldo hasn't scored in the first three games and he may score 10 goals in the next five games. Mandzukic is an ideal partner for him and play by his side, he can help Cristiano to win the best goalscorer award. I can see him or Icardi leading the best goalscorer table, with about 30 goals. Regarding their rivals, I like how Milan play but I'm sure Ancelotti could do well with Napoli. Inter and Roma are reinforced too though".
"Pjanic is doing really well he's grown. He could still do more, especially regarding continuity during the game. President Agnelli is right to say the objective is the Champions League, it must be so. The Bianconeri start in the first tier with Real Madrid who's won the last three editions, City, PSG and Barcelona. To win the Champions League, you need three things: a strong team which Juve has, a good physical condition in March-April and a bit of luck".
"I was surprised to see Bonucci get back to the Bianconeri, I didn't think he'd come back from Milan after one year but Juventus are looking for the strongest players and Leonardo is a top defender. Pogba back in Turin too? I wouldn't be surprised, if one leaves, he can always come back".
