Francesco Zampano, defender (class of '93) for Pescara, is appealing his 2-game ban for an "unsportsmanlike conduct" that took place in their previous match against Genoa. It was thought that he "prevented the realization of a goal by intentionally striking the ball with his left hand." The club has announced their appeal, and the final judgement is expected later today.
Pescara's coach, Massimo Oddo, spoke about the incident in a press conference: "It would be an injustice. Theres a rule, that if the ball touches a part of your body first and then touches your hand, it is not voluntary. It doesn't make sense to punish him. Looking back at the video, there was a penalty, but it wasn't a voluntary gesture."
