Cambridge United delivered a classic FA Cup upset as they stunned Premier League side Newcastle United at St James' Park to reach the fourth round.

The League One side, who currently sit 16th place in the third tier, proved to be a famous afternoon after winning 1-0 to book their place in the next round.

It was Joe Ironside, 28, a striker who grew up idolising Magpies legend and goalscorer Alan Shearer scoring the winner 11 minutes into the second half to show the unexpected can happen and make his dream come true, prompting eruption of 5,000 travelling supporters and silencing the richest club in the world. A day he'll never forget.

It also won't be a season Ironside will forget, who has been on fine goalscoring form this season, netting 12 times in all competitions and providing 3 assists. (including 2 in the FA Cup).

This proved a miserable debut for new signing Kieran Trippier, who made his move from Atletico Madrid official on Friday.

It still leaves Newcastle with just one win in all competitions this season and with the January transfer window open they must look to bring in further reinforcements in order to build from their £300m takeover.
