The journey to the elimination stages of the Champions League comes down to 180 minutes for Sarri and "his" Napoli. The Italian side has two games at their disposal to qualify as first in their group. Their first match is at home against Dinamo Kiev. Sarri discusses the game in a press conference:
“Our opponents have only lost once away from home. They’re a tough team to play with excellent technical ability. So far they’ve been very unlucky, we’ll have to be very careful. They have lots of young talent, Yarmolenko is a great player”.
Sarri doesn’t give anything away on what may be their starting lineup: “Gabbiadini returned to training yesterday so we have to evaluate his condition. Albiol has been working well, but we’re still unsure. The players I choose to start will be selected based off this past weeks work. Diawara may play once again, but despite his excellent performances, it’s not all in his hands”.
Has Napoli’s victory against Udinese turned a new leaf for them?: “Napoli has always had a high level of performances. Unfortunately because of strange mistakes and bad luck, results haven’t always been in our favour. The team did well coming out of this without losing confidence in their performances. Offensively we’re proving to be prolific, but defensively there still work to be done. Benfica? We have to ignore everything outside of our hands. There’s no point in making calculations”.
