After two consecutive defeats, Napoli wants to readjust quickly. Maurizio Sarri spoke about their mindset at the press conference before their next Champions League match against Besiktas: "Besiktas? They have a knack for staying in games, even away against Benfica. Against Dynamo Kiev they deserved a better result. They are a mentally solid squad, one that's difficult to come up against."
"Gabbiadini? He doesn’t have to adapt to me, but to the team. The team has a way of playing that I didn’t impose on them, but it matches the features the wingers and the midfielders have. Nobody wants to go against the characteristics of a player, but nobody would sacrifice lots of players for just one. Moving a few meters doesn't mean dropping from 100% efficiency to 50% efficiency."
"In Europe you find great motivation, and mistakes could end up happening in the legue. I don't believe that there are teams in Europe that don't study Napoli. I have total confidence in the team, moments like this can happen, but we're working on our errors and we are confident. Tomorrow we have to have free minds and maintain confidence in our ability. I didn’t consider us phenomena 15 days ago, and I don’t consider us weak now. It’s difficult to keep things balanced in football though."
"Tomorrow I expect a Napoli that has enthusiasm and lucidity. One that plays with application and determination, without making tactical or individual errors. Besiktas have the capacity to stay in the game, they haven't lost yet. Formation? One of my coaches told me that whoever talks about formations doesn't know anything about football. diceva che chi parla di moduli non sa nulla di calcio. Maybe we have changed too much already, causing the the team to lose some of it's certainty."
