Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly could have been a banker, or an insurance agent, but instead wound up in football, and he told the story of how he made it there to France Football: "At Metz, times were sometimes difficult. But I also understood there that you have to have a passion about football, so I focused on my math and physics studies." In 2014, Koulibaly received a call from Rafa Benitez: "I hung up on him 2 or 3 times. I didn't believe it, I thought a friend was playing a prank on me... then I finally realized it was for real. I was playing in Belgium and a manager from a great Serie A club had called me... no, it was impossible! After though I was really embarrassed about what happened. I started to know the players on the team. I had the chance to learn Italian at school, that helped. In the locker room all the foreign players speak Italian. I love this city, It's beautiful, sun and ocean. The neapolitans are very kind. I feel really, really good here. They live and breathe football here, the president De Laurentiis is the proof. He loves his club deeply."
