Napoli's president and owner Aurelio De Laurentiis discussed the present and the future of the club from Madrid, where he will attend the Club Advisory Platform meeting. De Lauretiis was asked about Insigne's situation, with the player rumoured to be expecting a meeting with the club to discuss a new contract. "He is not waiting to meet me and to receive a new contract offer, he should wait for a contract extension at the most. If he wants to stay here forever, he has to say so. If that is the case, we can start discussing how we can tie him to the club and make him even more a symbol of the club. He is Neapolitan, so he has everything it takes to be the captain, but to be a captain you also have to know how to speak to the team and push it to reaching ceratin objectives", De Laurentiis said to Corriere dello Sport.
The president then discussed the results of the current season and some of the plans for the transfer window: "I am very satisfied [with the season we've had]. Juventus brought in Cristaino Ronaldo and kept their coach. We changed coach, it was like starting everything over. However, we are 10 points above Inter and 14 above Milan, clubs that have considerably higher turnover than Napoli. I'd give an 8 out of 10 to Ancelotti. The transfer window? There are many names on our watchlist, but for us it will be crucial to focus on the outgoings. Last year we had to loan out important players to other clubs, so we can not sign players only to eventually send them play somewhere else", Napoli's president concluded.
