Roberto Mancini revealed a story about Daniele De Rossi dating from the coach's time at Manchester City, confirming during a panel for Corriere Dello Sport that he tried to sign De Rossi for the Premier League club. Here were the comments to Sky Sport: "De Rossi? It is truly sad that he'll be departing. When a player gives his entire career and his youth to only one club, when he leaves it is a sad day. I wanted him at Manchester City because I always considered him one of the best in the world, and that year I approached him about improving the team. We tried to get him but it was impossible because the Roma shirt is affixed onto him."
