Could Paolo Maldini be on his way back to Milan? The legendary defender has met with Marco Fassone, who offered him a significant role as technical director. As reported by Sky Sport's Peppe Di Stefano, in addition to being a peer with new sporting director Mirabelli, Maldini would also work as a liaison between management and coach Montella. But Maldini's position appears to be rigid, he wants a fully autonomous role like the one Leonardo has at PSG- unless he changes his mind, the answer will likely be no.
This is is what Maldini told Sky Sport 24 about the recent developments:"My history as a player and man ensures that I must understand completely the ideas of the new ownership group, their plans and how they want to operate. I need to be told this directly by them for a matter of conscience: if I have to put my name on it, my heart and passion I want to do so for a truly serious project. It's been said that I made a substantial financial request, I have not done so in any way. I simply stated that if they give me the technical area it would be right for me to make my own decisions, and even make mistakes on my own. I want one thing to be clear, any decision that I make will only be made exclusively for the good of Milan"
