After arriving in Turin yesterday evening, Maurizio Sarri hosted his introductory press conference as Juventus’ manager. The former Chelsea described his professional journey and how the negotiation to br g him to Turin was handled:”At Napoli I gave my all, then I decided to have a great experience in Premier League. Juve are the best Italian club right now and offered me a chance to return to Italy. It’s the crowning achievement of an important career. I have never seen so much determination on the part of a club to hire a coach. They had a great attitude which convinced me, they were very strong feelings. It’s been a long journey for me made up of gradual steps. I’m happy to be at the most important team in Italy and this is further step forward after the experience at Chelsea”

Sarri described what he expects next season:”It’s going to be an exciting year in Serie A, especially for the coaches. There’s a long way to go but hopefully the league can start to close the gap with the Premier League. I expect to wake up every morning studying how to win games. Winning continuously is always hard and Juventus have an obligation to always win, but with the awareness comes difficulty”

Sarri talked about some of his new players:”The ones who can change history are the offensive ones. We need to build around the talented ones: Ronaldo, Dybala, Douglas Costa who only partially exploded. Will I meet with Ronaldo during the weekend? I’ll talk to Paratici this afternoon and we’ll see how to get organized. I asked to speak with 2/3 players to understand and share. I want to know what each player thinks of himself”

Sarri was asked about Gonzalo Higuain:”I care for him a lot, as you all know. It depends on him. Here there are directors who followed him for years. The right thing is to follow their lead, because they know the players better than I. He’s currently a Juventus player, when he returns, we’ll talk. My sensation is Gonzalo didn’t live well his post Juve phase”
