On July 10th Cristiano Ronaldo left real Madrid to join Juventus in what turned out to be the biggest transfer of the summer, and while the Portuguese striker has yet to score in an official match his arrival has certainly created a lot of buzz. Pavel Nedved described how the deal materialized in an interview with Idnes TV: “The Ronaldo deal was all in our sporting director’s Paratici’s mind. He was offered to me and president Agnelli. The idea wasn’t crazy, we liked it right away. Cristiano was the ideal purchase to make a leap in quality after winning seven scudetti in a row”
In the end it came down to a number’s game: “When we found out the amount of the clause, that had been lowered to 100 million- Juve’s director said- we decided to try. We knew it was the right thing and we are happy to have him on the team. Champions League? We’ll try to win it, it will be the objective for next few years”
