Juventus, Barzagli: "If we want to win Serie A we need to concede less goals. Italy? I am in favor of former players only if they have experience off the pitch"

Juventus lost to Sampdoria at the Marassi yesterday, leaving them four points behind league leaders Napoli. It is surely a strange sight to see Juventus four points behind at this stage of the season, and Andrea Barzagli spoke to Sky Sport about the moment the bianconeri are going through, "The coach made us aware of two or three things we need to fix and we will start again from there. We know what we may lack at this time and we have to work on our mental aspect, so that we don't have certain drops in our level during the game. We are lacking the extra effort to not concede goals, to stand tall in those moments of the matches in defense where we suffer. In the last years Juventus has always had in its DNA the ability to suffer. This year we are able to find goals easily, but on the flip side we are conceding more and are giving up too many goals. This is a weakness that a team that wants to win the championship can't have. Barcelona? We must get better as they are in great form. We need to win this in order to get better at the matches against our direct rivals in Serie A."

He then went on to speak about the situation with the Italian national team, "My thoughts are clear, we need time and patience in order to make the right decisions that will get us better. It is a chance to start anew. We need a program that begins from the youth sector. It's unthinkable that Italy will win the Euros in 2020, we need a program that starts now and goes for ten years. Whoever arrives must have freedom to make decisions. I am in favor of former players taking over only if they have experience off the pitch. The names are not enough, they need to be competent. We need coaches prepared to teach the youth. Germany and Belgium are examples to follow."
