Gian Piero Ventura was in charge of Italy's 3-0 qualifying defeat to Spain. According to the coach, who spoke to Rai after the match, reactions from Ventura when he was asked about a change in formation: "This is just polemics, there are games you can't change. This was an experience for us. Now we will analyze this game and look to make improvements. If this one match impacts our confidence so much it means we lack competitiveness. I don't want to believe it is that. We didn't do well, and that will force you to grow, and Tuesday we expect another important match." Ventura, who saw Italy go down early in the first half and not threaten to bring the game back to Spain also commented: "We gave away chances to them off our errors. In the first half we went behind two goals without a shot on the net. Spain's goalkeeper made three good saves when we could have gotten back into the match. Right now we feel human while they feel less."
