With Dries Mertens set to extend his contract with Napoli after all, Inter are considering other options to bolster Antonio Conte's attack. The nerazzurri will likely intensify their pursuit of Edinson Cavani, while the former Napoli striker has a very significant salary, he could be signed on a Bosman deal. Inter had already contacted his representatives, but Mertens' decision will likely make him more of a priority.
However the pursuit of Cavani, is also likely tied to Lautaro Martinez. The negotiation with Barcelona for the Argentine striker has had it's share of ups and down, but there is still distance on the blaugrana's offer and Inter's demands. Barcelona do not want to pay the entire €111 clause and would like to include some players, at the moment Junior Firpo is more of a priority for Inter than Semedo.
Finally Alexis Sanchez is also determined to show Inter his worth in the final stretch of the season, his goal is to convince the nerazzurri to confirm him next season.
