Using the Champions League victory over PSV as motivation to push forward in Serie A, Inter is visiting SPAL this weekend and hopes to win their fourth straight league match -- something they have not done since September 2017. Luciano Spalletti spoke about the match, which will be played Sunday evening in Ferrara, during his press conference:
"There have been times where we lowered our level of play during a match, but our players are able to think in the right way and I'm sure that we'll be ready tomorrow from a mental standpoint. We recovered what we had lost at the beginning, but we must complete the game tomorrow because then there will be a break. We know the pitfalls of this match, so we have to hear the Champions League music tomorrow, as well," said Spalletti.
"Turnover? It's not something I like very much. In the past, I would substitute starters with other starters. We have a full roster, because it needs to be like that. We discussed this last year with the club, as there are difficulties with putting the same players on the pitch for 95 minutes every time, for three times a week," added the Inter manager.
"The match against PSV was a turning point? We're working the right way and you can see our improvements. We need to continue making ourselves more available and attentive. For me, we still have not played to our maximum and these victories don't make us comfortable. Wearing the Inter shirt means that every match is a test. I am satisfied with how much we've grown mentally and with our team's character. Against SPAL, we'll see if this mentality that we've recently shown is on our skin or under our skin. Because in the first case, you risk losing it after a couple showers," concluded Spalletti.
