With a 1-1 draw to Barcelona, Inter provided the comeback, scoring the equalizer in the match minutes after Malcom's opening goal. Mauro Icardi gave Inter a point in the match, and the coach of the nerazzurri, Luciano Spalletti, could enjoy the result of the work put in by his team. Spalletti spoke to Sky Sport to break down the match:
"It seemed likely it would end goalless, but then they went ahead suddenly. But overall my players' reaction, summed up by the way Icardi gets the ball from the back of the net, is a very strong indication of the mentality of the squad.
We worked hard in the first half, like we did at Barcelona, but we were unable to keep control of the ball. We are behind them still in terms of ball movement, they are stronger in that aspect than we are. They have quality in their passing and their intuitive movement, they are all over you in the defensive phase, they force you to be compact inside the penalty area, you almost feel exposed watching them from the bench, so it was a good match for us."
