The Stefano Pioli era at Inter has officially begun. The ex Lazio coach presented himself today, here are the best parts of the press conference:
‘I will give everything I have for this club, we’re going to have to play with passion. Candreva? Always considered him a great player. I’d be happy with qualifying for the Champions League, there’s still a ton of games to play. Derby? It’s going to be a great game. Milan is a tough opponent, but Inter has shown they can find the right motivation in big games’.
On the club ownership: ‘I found a compact and united club, I’m sure the ownership will give me the needed support. To me what matters most is attitude and the approach of the game, the way a match is interpreted. The international break will allow me to become more comfortable with the Inter environment’.
A comment on Icardi: ‘I’m extremely happy to be coaching Icardi. On and off the pitch he has the will to sacrifice himself, he’s an example that should be followed. We have tons of players who can score goals. Gabigol? A quality player. He’s training well but we’ll decide who to play depending on the game. Why is Inter in this position? Looking back has no use, we need to look forward. Walter Samuel? I’m the one who wanted him in my staff because he’s a humble, serious person who embodies the values of Inter’.
