After failing to get some decisive points at Wembley against Tottenham, Inter prepares for two weeks of tough matches where the Nerazzurri will face Roma, Juventus and the PSV in the last match of the Champions League group stages. One of the main men of Spalletti's side, captain Mauro Icardi discussed many topics in an interview with Corriere dello Sport: "Many people often talk about my involvement in the play, saying that it's noth enough, but I don't care about what they say. I know a way of helping my team and my coach, and it's hitting the back of the net. I have always lived to score goals, it's my mission".
The striker also talked about his goals with the Nerazzurri shirt: "I have always made clear whta my goals were. One was to play Champions League and the other one is to win some trophies with this club. Contract extension? We will sign it at the right time, there's still time. Wanda knows what she is doing. I trust her completely, she knows me well. Juventus interest? I heard something in the past, but I'm the last one to know things, I only think about doing my job. Real Madrid? It's not the right time to talk about that, considering their current results. And then I feel good at the club".
Finally, Icardi commented his team's season so far and his feeling towards his country: "The team is more complete than before. We dropped some points at the start of the season. When we thought we had gained some momentum we lost against Atalanta, they were better than us in that game. Against Roma we will try to play a good game, because we know that if we drop some more points Juventus and Napoli will get even more distant. Lautaro? I have helped him a lot when he first came here, he didnd't know anyone. He is 21 and he can still improve. He gives everything on the pitch. Playing for Italy? I never even considered the idea, not because I don't respect Italy or because I am not grateful to this country, but because I deeply feel Argentinian, even though we left the country when I was very young".
