Tomorrow night at the San Siro stadium, Italy and Germany will play in a high profile friendly match. Moments ago, Mats Hummels spoke in a press conference about the ‘azzurri’ : ‘It’s always a pleasure to play against Italy. This is my 5th encounter against them and it’s always exciting’.
On the difficult history Germany has had against Italy: ‘In our last three matches against them we have never lost, I’d say the curse is broken. Playing Italy remains a difficult challenge. Nonetheless I wouldn’t call it a curse, at least not anymore than playing other great teams. Immobile? We didn’t spend much time together at Dortmund, but I see he’s going through a period of good form. He always gave it his all, I’m happy to see him again. Meeting the pope? I’ll never forget it’.
On the new adventure with Germany: ‘There’s a good mix of youth and experience. The World Cup qualifiers are going well. We may not be qualified yet, but it’s only been four games’.
