Belgian side Genk, which is in the same Champions League group as Napoli, has announced the sacking of first team coach Felice Mazzù. The two consecutive losses suffered in the Beglian pro League and the current position in the table both in the league (9th place) and in the UCL group ( bottom of the table) proved fatal for the Italian-Belgian coach.
With a statement on their official website, Genk thanked the coach and his staff for their work, but it appeared evident to the club that the team's current poor run of form could not be overturned by the current coach and that the gap between the quality of the team and their performances so far has been too wide to be solely imputable to the squad rebuilding process put in motion after last season's title win.
