Claudio Ranieri's tenure at Craven Cottage couldn't get off to a better start as Fulham managed to get the three points in the Italian coach's debut with his new club. The former Leicester boss said to La Gazzetta dello Sport that he is confident that his team can avoid to go back to the Championship, despite sittting at the bottom of the table after 13 games: "It will be a tough way to the safety, but I am confident we will do it. We have a good team, we just have to get better at defending and improve our mentality. I have made myself clear with my players, I want at team that runs and fights".

The Cottagers will have to face two opponents that have great importance for their new boss, first Chelsea and then Leicester: "Chelsea introduced me to English football, while with Leicester we managed to achieve something extraordinary. Those will be two emotional games, but I have to think about the current position of my club. Sarri? He is really good. You can see that he has studied and he has an immense passion. Leicester? I would have never thought that my return to Leicester could be for such a terrible occasion".

Fianlly, Ranieri revealed who was the first one to congratulate him for his new job: "Josè Mourinho was the first one to call me. He is a great man, a great coach and a great character".
