With four goals scored in the first five games of the Serie A season, Gaetano Castrovilli has become one of the most important players for Fiorentina after Chiesa's departure. The Viola want to keep Castrovilli and they are considering a contract extension through 2025.
"I really like being here in Florence, Fiorentina are like a family to me, so if there was the opportunity to sign a contract extension I would be happy to sign it", Castrovilli told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "Commisso and I have a special relationship, he is always with us and he's our main supporter. Chiesa? People amke their own choices, I can't judge the decisions that a footballer makes for his career. Federico made his decision, I can only wish him well".
Castrovilli was then asked about the possibility to be included in the squad for next summer's Euros: "Playing at the Euros is a major goal and a big dream of mine. Wearing the Azzurri jersey in such a big competition would be an incredible feeling. I will do my best [to impress the coach], then Mancini will make the decision. However, I know that the other competitors for a spot in the squad are top class".
