While the coronavirus pandemic has stopped league play, the projects and dreams of Daniele De Rossi have not slowed down. The former Roma midfielder spoke with Casa Sky Sport on his ideas for the future.
"As a player, I took a very rare path, it doesn't happen every day that you play 20 years for the same team. I cannot think about doing the same thing if I become a great manager, even if I'd like to manage Roma. Before all of that, though, I must become a good manager. In these days, I am beginning to see things in a different way. I would like to, but it would happen within 5, 10 or 20 years. It will happen only if I become a manager that can bring something and not because I played for Roma. I'm starting this path because I think I'm able to do it, I always saw myself in a leader role and I could have an advantage from this point of view. There's a lot more to do as a manager and I need to learn a lot about those things."
"First I would like to say Guardiola, maybe the best ever, in Italy I really like Gattuso and De Zerbi. Lippi? He was so important for the Nazionale. We had great talent, but we maybe weren't the strongest team at that World Cip. We won because from the first day he created a true club squad. I always had the sensation that whenever there was the chance, he would've put me back in after my red card against the USA. I will always thank him because he was very important to me."
On his Boca experience: "I lived my last day with Roma with great peace. I left with a smile, to make the fans understand what they showed me. The experience at Boca was unforgettable. I have a lot of nostalgia for the place and the environment. I loved watching Maradona play there as a kid and I understood what it means to play there. Everyone knows Boca Juniors, but nobody truly knows it."
