After facing each other in the Champions League quarterfinals a few months ago, Cristiano Ronaldo and Matthijs De Ligt crossed paths once again. While at club level the Dutch defender had the upper hand, last night it was Ronaldo’s turn to smile since Portugal defeated the Netherlands in the first edition of the Natuons League.
Following the match, Ronaldo crossed paths with De Ligt and the two chatted for a few seconds, a detail that didn’t escape the television match. During his post game remarks to Dutch television Nos, De Ligt reveled that:”Cristiano Ronaldo asked me to join Juventus. I was slightly shocked by the question, this is why I was laughing. I hadn’t understood what he said originally. I was still thinking about the loss”.
De Ligt was recently linked to Barcelona and is on the wish list for numerous top European clubs, the defender has clear ideas “I’ll think of what is best for me and only then will I decide. I believe playing regularly is very important for a young player. Now I’ll go on vacation and rest, then we’ll see what happens”. Will De Ligt accept Ronaldo’s offer, only time will tell.
