After a brilliant stretch at Juventus, Alvaro Morata has gone through a difficult period on the pitch. The Spanish striker didn’t earn a starter’s role when he returned to Real Madrid, and despite a strong start, Morata hasn’t been able to consistently perform at Chelsea- he described his struggles in a recent interview with El Mundo:”I learned a lot from last season, it was a very difficult year. I left my home to play in the World Cup and in the end I was left without the national team and I only learned from this although it was hard to get through. With the arrival of my children I learned how to control both positive and negative emotions. Today I’m happy person especially off the pitch”
Morata wasn’t afraid to express publicly how he felt:”In the past months I spoke about my difficulties, but I said it wasn’t a depression although I lived very poorly. When I arrived in London I scored seven goals in seven matches and the fans yelled my name, the people loved me. Then I got hurt and I made a mistake playing through the pain. In the end players have the same problems as anyone else. Maybe more since money and fame can be a problem
