He started his career as a head trainer there, and if it were up to their current president Vieira, he would return to Benfica tomorrow. Jose Mourinho left a job as Louis Van Gaal's assistant to join the Portuguese giants last time, so one would assume the move would be easier this time since his currently out of work. After the current manager Rui Vitoria is no longer at the club, Vieira had this to say about their former coach to Portuguese outlet SIC: "I am a friend of his but I haven't spoken to Mourinho, who wouldn't like to have him? If he said yes, we will take him tomorrow. The money is not a problem. It's simple, if Mourinho came, instead of having 27 players we will have 21 or 22." The president left no doubt that he would welcome the Special One back with open arms.
