Zvonimir Boban on VAR: "It guarantees transparency. Italy was fundamental in this process"

FIFA Deputy Secretary General Zvonimir Boban discussed one of the most important changes in modern football: VAR. In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Croatian confirmed that "Football has gained credibility thanks to VAR, there's no doubt about it. It transmits a message of transparency and clarity. Football has always been fantastic, also before VAR, but once you've tested it, it's really tough to go back. And then, why should we? VAR protocol is perfect and won't be altered, that's Ifab and FIFA's opinion on the matter. At the World Cup we'll try to improve it even further. We will provide written explanation during the games on why that decision was taken during a game. We are very happy of the result of this amazing project. Italy was funtamental, a beacon. We thank everyone involved".
