Polemics keep on going on these days in Italy. The azzurri won't go to the World Cup and many former players ask for a revolution. Dino Zoff is one of them as he talked to Radio Incontro Olympia: "I honestly thought that we could have won against Sweden but it didn't go like that. Maybe we missed a bit of luck in that last game but that doesn't matter anymore now. I think Italy is the only great team missing the World Cup. I'm convinced the decisive game was the one against Spain, that loss has made us loose our confidence. I read a lot of wrong things though, we need to find the right way to stand up again and face this situation".
About the solutions to make the Calcio go forward: "The problem is that there isn't a lot of Italians in our football. I think we should interfere in that purpose. In the big important teams, there aren't Italian players blocks that can help the National team. The real thing is that there isn't a lot of Italian in the youngsters' teams. Buffon? I'm sorry for him, he could have made a great record of played world cups. It's only logical that he felt bad, I can understand it. I think that he's got the qualities to have an important role in the Italian football in the future".
About the future: "Me as the FIGC president? I'm 75, I belong to football's past. I did a revolutionary gesture by resigning, I knew it would have penalized me. Nowadays I belong to the silent majority and it's okay for me".
